Self heal is a low growing perennial from the mint family. It can form an interesting ground cover in a range of conditions from full to part sun so long as it has some moisture. In the wild it is found in moist meadows near coniferous forests. Attractive compact spikes of purple and white flowers put on a good show in summer. Grows well with California fescue, serviceberry and woodland strawberry.
